Team Miramichi is a group of local funding agencies that come together to work with small and medium sized businesses
during start-up or expansion phases.
Locally there are a number of agencies that form Team Miramichi. They are:
There are also a number of other agencies that play a role including the City of Miramichi, Miramichi Planning District
Commission, the local Chartered Banks and Credit Unions as well as the accounting and legal firms in the area. Local
Real Estate firms can also be involved when commercial property is concerned. Also, any and all of these agencies can
be involved in client referrals and this commonly happens.
Team Miramichi includes the above listed group and meets at least monthly to review active business development files.
For larger companies, Team Miramichi will collectively meet with the client, review the business plan with them and inform
the client what programs exist if they are looking to locate in Miramichi. The client is required to produce a business
plan and each agency uses that plan during their due diligence. Generally a second and third meeting is needed for the
more complex business plans and a visit to the client’s site, as well as visiting local commercial property, also occurs.
(As a note, smaller companies tend to meet directly with Enterprise Miramichi’s Economic Development Officer first.
He/she explains the various programs available depending on the business and generally refers these smaller clients to 1 or
2 of the agencies listed above.) The agencies can contribute to a business either in the form of a loan, grant or assistance
for their employees depending on the programs they offer and needs of the client.
The feedback we have been getting from clients we have met with has been excellent. Most clients like the fact
they can meet with so many Government funding agencies at one time to reduce the time they spend running around. It
also works very well for us as Team Miramichi as we know what each of the partners can or cannot do to help a project.
